DHARMA TALK - MAY 21, 2017 I HEART YOGA

When was the last time you did anything for the first time?  Do you remember the feeling of doing something new?  Do you remember your very first yoga class?  How everything felt new and different. Maybe this is your very first yoga class, in this case, everything is new and different.

Often as we go through our daily lives, we forget what it was like to be a beginner in the things we do.  We take our activities for granted, going through the motions like clockwork without focusing on the task at hand.  We obsess about moving forward, on the end goal that the thought of starting over sounds like a daunting task as we are reminded of the long road we had to go through to get to where we are today. But it doesn't have to be that way, re-learning and re-experiencing keeps you passionate about the things you do. I believe if you have something you're passionate about, keep tremendously interested in it.  Because there's always something new to learn.

For the next hour I invite you all to see if you can re-live that new feeling in each pose, each movement, each flow.  Remember what it was like the first time you tried it and maybe this time, try something else,  make a tiny adjustment, or go deeper in a pose until you're uncomfortable.  And maybe carry this mindset with you as you go through the rest of your week.
